MC Hammer was a very flashy hip-hop artist from the early 90s. He had success with the song "U Can't Touch This" from the album Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em, which was the first hip-hop album to be certified diamond (10 million copies sold) by the RIAA. However, his followup, 2 Legit 2 Quitdidn't fare quite as well and, ultimately, with his heavy spending and frequent label changing, he ended up filing for bankruptcy in 1997. Hammer continues to release music, however. Although his recent albums have not appeared on the Billboard charts.
